The incident caused two fatalities and left 20 people injured. Kharge said the derailment highlights compromised rail safety under the Modi administration.

In a post on X, Kharge demanded the urgent installation of the Kavach anti-collision system across all Indian routes to enhance safety and prevent accidents. He described the recent derailments as examples of how the Modi government has jeopardized rail safety. Kharge extended condolences to the families affected and expressed solidarity with the injured.

CPRO North Eastern Railway Pankaj Singh reported one death and seven injuries, including one severe case. He said rescue operations were underway, helplines were set up, and first aid was being administered to the injured. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed immediate on-site assistance and called for expedited relief work.
