CISF officials at Delhi's IGI Airport on Friday detected a substantial quantity of medicines valued at Rs 49 lakh from a passenger en route to Almaty, Kazakhstan. The passenger, identified as Khabibullave Abdumutalibjon Khotamjon Ugli, failed to produce necessary documentation for the medicines.
According to a CISF press release, the incident unfolded on July 19 around 9 am when surveillance staff flagged the passenger for suspicious behavior during the check-in at Terminal 3. The man's baggage, which included a trolley and two carton boxes, revealed dubious images when scanned via the X-BIS machine.
He was allowed to complete check-in procedures under close watch and later intercepted by CISF personnel after immigration formalities. A thorough search with customs officials unearthed a large cache of medicines with an estimated worth of Rs 49 lakh. The passenger and the seizure were handed to Customs for further investigation.
