Disability Advocates Demand Increased Budget for Inclusive Development

Disability rights activists, led by Arman Ali from NCPEDP, are calling for significant financial allocations in the upcoming budget to support persons with disabilities. The activists also advocate for uniform pensions, insurance schemes, and tax exemptions on essential assistive devices.

Arman Ali, the executive director of the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP), has highlighted the necessity of earmarking budgets under both central and state schemes across different ministries to ensure focused funding for disability inclusion. According to Ali, such an approach would address various requirements of persons with disabilities and provide adequate support across multiple sectors.

Ali also pointed out the urgent need for budget allocations to improve accessible infrastructure in community hospitals, primary health centers, district hospitals, and sub-district hospitals. Without these allocations, individuals with disabilities will continue to encounter significant barriers in accessing health services, affecting their overall health outcomes.
