BJP Hits Back at INDIA Bloc Amid Bihar Protests Over Law and Order

Following protests by the INDIA bloc over Bihar's law and order, BJP leaders countered criticisms, asserting that there's no protection for criminals and improvements are underway. The issue gained momentum after the murder of Mukesh Sahni's father, Jitan Sahni, leading to widespread opposition against the Nitish Kumar government.

The ongoing protests by the INDIA bloc over the law and order situation in Bihar have drawn sharp reactions from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has urged the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) cadre to introspect. The BJP asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar do not offer protection to criminals. INDIA bloc workers have been vocal against alleged failures in maintaining law and order following the murder of Jitan Sahni, the father of Mukesh Sahni, founder of the Vikasheel Insaan Party.

Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Vijay Kumar Sinha, accused the opposition of concealing their flaws. 'The opposition is hiding their shortcomings. Quick action is taken in Bihar. Those same people used to perpetrate such incidents and are now protesting because of the increased crackdown. Law and order prevail in Bihar. The Prime Minister and the Chief Minister do not protect criminals. There is a crackdown on terrorism, extremism, crime, and corruption,' Sinha stated.

Reacting to the INDIA bloc protest, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad asserted that the law and order situation in Bihar has seen substantial improvements. 'They have the right to hold protests, but the RJD should self-reflect first. Under their regime, daylight kidnappings in Patna were rampant. The situation has improved under the leadership of Nitish Kumar,' Prasad emphasized. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary echoed similar sentiments, stating that law and order had deteriorated under Lalu Prasad Yadav's rule but has since normalized.

Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi affirmed that the Bihar government is taking strict actions against offenders. 'The law and order situation in Bihar is normal, and the government is acting firmly against offenders. The INDIA bloc leaders are trying to hide their misdeeds by staging protests,' he added.

The issue escalated after an INDIA bloc meeting on July 17 to discuss current incidents and planned statewide demonstrations on July 20 in protest of the law and order scenario. The killing of Jitan Sahni in Darbhanga has intensified political tensions, with the opposition accusing Nitish Kumar's government of failing to maintain order.
