Severe rains have led to significant flooding in Porbandar, displacing hundreds and halting rail operations. Union Minister and Porbandar MP, Mansukh Mandaviya, confirmed the rescue of 44 people while over 600 have been relocated to shelter homes.
With heavy rains often causing power cuts and waterlogging, a call center has been set up at the district collectorate office to assist residents and minimize property and life damage. Mandaviya assured that facilities are being provided to those in shelters.
Waterlogging has disrupted traffic and closed roads, causeways, and underpasses in Porbandar, Junagadh, and Devbhumi Dwarka districts. Despite the rains ceasing for 18 hours, some areas remain submerged, including the renowned Rokadiya Hanuman temple. Restoration of the affected railway tracks is underway after Porbandar received 300 mm of rain in a few hours, stranding 250 passengers of the Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Porbandar Superfast Express.
