High-Level Security Meeting in Jammu: Major Counter-Terror Operations Planned

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a crucial meeting with the Army Chief and top security officials to address Jammu's security situation. Coordinated counter-terrorism operations and strengthened security grids were emphasized. The Indian Army is redeploying troops to tackle infiltrating Pakistani terrorists.

Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting with the Army Chief and top officials from security and law enforcement agencies concerning the security situation in the Jammu division, as per a press statement.

The meeting, attended by General Upendra Dwivedi, the DGs of BSF, CRPF, DGP J-K, and senior officials from Intelligence Agencies, Army, CAPFs, and J-K Police, focused on enhanced counter-terrorism strategies. The Lieutenant Governor directed coordinated operations to eradicate terrorism and strengthen the security grid against cross-border infiltration.

In light of recent infiltrations by highly trained Pakistani terrorists, the Indian Army has adjusted deployments, including 500 Para Special Forces commandos, to neutralize around 50-55 infiltrators. Intelligence agencies have also ramped up efforts against terrorist support systems, supported by additional Army brigades. Strategies are being devised to dismantle terrorist networks, leveraging existing counter-terror infrastructure, including Rashtriya Rifles units.

In a recent encounter on July 16 in Doda district, four Indian Army soldiers, including Captain Brijesh Thapa, were killed while engaging terrorists.
