Steady Rise in Gender Budget Marks Shift to Women-Led Development in India

India's gender budget has seen a significant increase, rising from Rs 97,134 crore in FY2014 to Rs 3.1 lakh crore in FY2025, according to the Economic Survey presented in Parliament on Monday.
This marks a 38.7% rise from FY2024 and a 218.8% increase from FY2014, now making up 6.5% of the total Union Budget. The survey emphasises India's transition from women's development to women-led development.
The government has introduced several legislative measures to ensure women's participation in various sectors, highlighting India's G20 presidency focus on 'women-led development' in 2023.
