Delhi High Court Orders CBI Probe into Kardampuri Death Amidst 2020 Riots

The Delhi High Court has mandated a CBI investigation into the death of Faizan, who allegedly succumbed to injuries during the 2020 Delhi riots in Kardampuri. The order came after his mother, Kismatun, filed a petition seeking a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the incident.

Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani presided over the case, which highlighted serious allegations of police brutality. A video showing police officers beating Faizan and forcing him to sing the national anthem while injured had gone viral, stirring public outrage.

The court had earlier reserved its order after hearing arguments from the petitioner's counsel and the Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad. Finally, the investigation was elevated to the CBI to ensure impartiality and thorough scrutiny.
