Government Initiates Land Reforms and Development Projects across States

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced government plans for land reforms including digitizing urban land records. The government will also support large irrigation projects, assist disaster-hit states, and provide funds to Andhra Pradesh for industrial development infrastructure such as water, power, railways, and roads.

The government will consult with states on land reforms, announced Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Budget for 2024-25.

Sitharaman said that urban land records would be digitized to improve the finances of urban bodies across the country. Additionally, she highlighted support for the Accelerated Irrigation Programme, with projects worth Rs 11,500 crore.

Support will also be extended to states affected by natural disasters, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim. Furthermore, Andhra Pradesh will receive funds to enhance industrial development infrastructure, focusing on essential services like water, power, railways, and roads.
