Rajya Sabha is set to engage in a crucial discussion on the Union Budget and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir's budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 later today. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had earlier presented both financial plans on July 23.
The Union Budget, outlining the government's revenue and expenditure, is a key event shaping the nation's financial direction. The Jammu and Kashmir budget also holds significant importance given the Union Territory's developmental requirements.
According to Rajya Sabha's schedule, the discussion is slated for the second half of the day. Jayant Chaudhary, Pankaj Chaudhary, Nityanand Rai, and Sukanta Majumdar are among the ministers scheduled to present reports on various topics, including education and finance.
Rajya Sabha Secretary General PC Mody will table several Public Accounts Committee reports, covering issues such as school toilets, the Namami Gange project, service tax implications, and Public-Private Partnership projects at Mumbai's international airport.
Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju will also move motions for elections and nominations to various committees, including those on welfare for other backward classes, scheduled castes, and scheduled tribes.
