The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has reported a significant increase in new registrations, adding 23.05 lakh new employees in May 2024, according to an official release by the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Wednesday.

Among these new registrations, 1.15 lakh young employees, constituting over 48 percent of the total, are up to the age of 25. Additionally, 4.47 lakh female employees and 60 transgender employees enrolled in the ESIC scheme during the same period, demonstrating the organization's commitment to inclusivity.

The year-on-year analysis indicates a 14 percent growth in net registrations compared to May 2023. Of the total new employees, a significant 11.15 lakh are in the age group of up to 25 years, making up approximately 48.37 percent of the total registrations. This data is provisional as it is part of an ongoing data generation exercise. ESIC, established in 1948 under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, has its headquarters in New Delhi and operates a nationwide network of offices.
