Assam to Receive Full Union Budget Support for Flood-Resilient Economy, Confirms FM Sitharaman

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured him that all support announced in the Union Budget will be extended to Assam to help build a flood-resilient economy. The Chief Minister made this statement after meeting with the Finance Minister in Delhi to discuss a wide range of issues.
"Today in New Delhi, I commended Hon'ble Finance Minister Smt @nsitharamanJi for delivering an exceptional #BudgetForViksitBharat. This budget has an unprecedented focus on jobs, Yuva Shakti, Nari Shakti, and small businesses. We also had fruitful discussions on a wide range of issues," Sarma said in a post on X. "Hon'ble Finance Minister has reassured that all support announced in the Union Budget will be extended to Assam to help build a flood-resilient economy," he added.
The Chief Minister stated that Assam stands to benefit significantly from various budget announcements pertaining to MSMEs, skilling, and the digital economy. He emphasised that all such proposals from the state will be duly expedited. Sarma expressed his gratitude to the minister for the "excellent" scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capex and offered his suggestions to make the scheme even more robust.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the Finance Minister assured him that all issues related to royalty from hydrocarbon industries in the state would be settled at the earliest. "I also offered suggestions to improve the capacity building of Assam's chemical and hydrocarbon industries. The Hon'ble Finance Minister was gracious to consider them positively," Sarma said in his post. (ANI)
