Kerala's Nipah Virus Battle: 8 More Samples Test Negative

Health Minister Veena George confirms eight more negative Nipah virus test results in Kerala. Out of 66 tested individuals, all were negative. Two more symptomatic patients are in treatment, with 472 contacts being monitored, including 220 high-risk individuals.

Eight more people in Kerala have tested negative for the Nipah virus, according to Health Minister Veena George. This brings relief as all 66 samples on the contact list of a deceased 15-year-old boy from Malappura have tested negative. The minister mentioned that two additional symptomatic individuals have been hospitalized, raising the total number of patients under treatment at Manjeri and Kozhikode Medical Colleges to eight.

Minister George participated in an online Nipah review meeting at the Malappuram Collectorate. Currently, 472 individuals are on the contact list, with 220 classified as high-risk.

As part of the prevention efforts, health workers completed home visits in Pandikkad and Anakkayam panchayats in Malappuram. They visited 1,477 homes today, totaling 27,908 homes visited so far. Mental health services were offered to 227 people today.

The minister emphasized that all individuals on the contact list must strictly adhere to isolation guidelines for 21 days. Discharged patients must also comply with isolation rules, with strict action promised against those who do not follow the guidelines.
