Mumbai University Postpones Exams in Raigad and Ratnagiri Due to Heavy Rain Alerts

Amid heavy rain alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai University has postponed all examinations scheduled for Raigad and Ratnagiri districts. The announcement was made by Pooja Roudale, Director of Examination and Evaluation Board, on Friday.
Roudale assured that new dates for the exams will be announced shortly. She emphasized that this delay applies only to exams in Raigad and Ratnagiri. Mumbai University also communicated the postponement on X, explaining, "In view of the declared holiday due to heavy rains in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts, and to avoid possible inconvenience, all examinations to be held today (Friday) on 26th July 2024 in the morning and afternoon sessions only in these districts have been postponed."
The IMD has issued a red alert anticipating heavy to very heavy rainfall in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts. Meanwhile, Mumbai City and its suburbs are expected to see moderate to heavy rainfall with isolated instances of very heavy downpours, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Furthermore, occasional gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph are predicted for today. High tide at 3:32 PM is expected to reach 4.46 meters, while low tide at 9:44 PM will reach 0.98 meters. Despite currently experiencing little to no rainfall, Mumbai and neighboring districts like Thane, Palghar, and Sindhudurg are under an orange alert for moderate to heavy rainfall by the IMD.
