The IFSO Unit of the Special Cell, Delhi Police, has solved a major cryptocurrency theft case following the arrest of three individuals. The unit recovered approximately Rs 2.6 crore, including Rs 1.25 crore in cash, 2.32 BTC, and 9600 USDT—around 90% of the stolen amount. The remaining 10% was spent as a commission for converting the cryptocurrency from Bitcoin to USDT and then to Indian currency.

The investigation began after Shilpa Jaiswal lodged a complaint alleging that her cryptocurrency trust wallet had been drained of six BTC while she was abroad. A case was registered (FIR No. 309/24) under various sections of the BNS and IT Act, launching an in-depth probe.

The team meticulously analyzed the money trail and traced the stolen cryptocurrency through technical scrutiny. The accused employed multiple small transactions to avoid detection, moving the BTC through various mixers to obscure the trail. Despite these efforts, six wallets were identified as recipients of the stolen cryptocurrency, leading to the arrest of Mokshi, the mastermind, on July 19, 2024, and her two associates, Sherry Sharma and Ashish Sharma.
