Congress MP Shafi Parambil on Friday introduced a resolution in the Lok Sabha seeking steps to regulate airfare, citing the financial burden faced by immigrant workers due to fluctuating ticket prices. He highlighted a steep rise in ticket prices from Cochin to Dubai, questioning the affordability for average workers.

Parambil noted the jump from Rs. 19,062 on July 27 to Rs. 77,573 on August 31 for the same flight, stressing the economic hardships of immigrant workers. The session also saw disruptions from TMC and BJP members over unrelated issues, which the Speaker did not allow for discussion.

Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, called for immediate action on conducting a caste census. Gogoi emphasized that the current reliance on 2011 data hampers informed decision-making and urged the government to provide a clear timeline for the census. He criticized the government's budget allocation for the census as insufficient.
