Delhi's Patiala House Court on Saturday deferred its order on the cancellation report filed by the Delhi Police against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Singh in relation to a POCSO case. This case was initiated from a complaint made by a minor female wrestler. The Delhi Police submitted a cancellation report following the victim's retraction from her initial statement.
Special POCSO Judge Chhavi Kapoor postponed the decision to September 27 due to the Lawyer's Association's call to refrain from work on Saturday. The court had reserved its order on August 1, 2023, after considering the responses from the minor wrestler and her father, who did not oppose the report.
The minor wrestler and her father appeared before the court and expressed satisfaction with the Delhi Police's investigation, Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava informed the media. They did not contest the cancellation report submitted on June 15, 2023. Consequently, the Patiala House Court issued a notice to the complainant and her father on July 4.
Earlier, a charge sheet was filed in Rouse Avenue Court in a sexual harassment case against Singh and fellow accused Vinod Tomar. The Rouse Avenue Court ordered the framing of charges on July 11 and initiated the trial, directing the recording of prosecution witnesses' statements. Delhi Police's PRO Suman Nalwa stated that chargesheets were filed under multiple sections of the IPC against Singh and Tomar.
