Defence Expert Captain (Retired) Anil Gaur stated on Saturday that Pakistan is determined to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. "Pakistan is hell-bent upon trying to revive terrorism here in Jammu and Kashmir, and it is not going to stop. We have seen that Pakistan has nothing to do except these terrorist attacks," Gaur told ANI.
"Till the time we do not become proactive, because from 1947 onwards to 2024, we have been reactive, and we have been reactive in the wars. Pakistan has started the wars," he added. His comments follow the Indian Army's successful thwarting of a Pakistan Border Action Team's (BAT) attack near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara.
A group of two to three armed personnel from the Pakistan side crossed the Line of Control and fired on a forward Army post from close proximity, exploiting bad weather and poor visibility in Machhal Sector, Kupwara district. One intruder was killed in the exchange of fire, while an Indian Army soldier injured in the encounter succumbed to his injuries.
The Public Relations Officer (Defence), Srinagar, stated, "Taking advantage of bad weather and poor visibility along the Line of Control in Machhal Sector, a group of two to three armed personnel crossed the LC and fired on a forward Army post from close proximity. Alert troops responded vigorously, and in the ensuing exchange of fire, one Pakistani intruder has been killed along with the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and war-like stores." "Identification and affiliation of this Pakistani national are being ascertained," the PRO said.
"During this intense fire exchange, two of our brave soldiers also suffered grave injuries and were promptly evacuated to the Base Hospital in Srinagar. Unfortunately, one of these bravehearts succumbed to his injuries. The other braveheart is responding well to treatment and is presently stable," the PRO added. The PRO emphasized that similar attempts by infiltrators, actively supported by the Pakistani Army, have exploited thick foliage and poor visibility conditions but have consistently been thwarted.
"The Indian Army is resolute in its commitment to maintain the sanctity of the Line of Control and defeat the nefarious designs of the Pakistan Army," the PRO added.
