The Delhi Police has initiated a criminal investigation into the tragic incident where three individuals lost their lives due to flooding in the basement of a coaching institute in New Delhi's Rajendra Nagar. Deputy Commissioner of Police Central, M Harshavardhan, affirmed the commitment to uncover the truth.

'We have registered a criminal case. Our forensic teams are here, and the process of collecting forensic evidence is underway. We are dedicated to conducting a proper investigation and ensuring justice. Two people have been detained so far,' Harshavardhan stated.

He disclosed that the final round of search operations was pending. 'The NDRF has recovered three bodies, which have been sent for further legal procedures. Continuous efforts are being made to pump out water. Some students have been rescued, with three admitted to the hospital. In total, 13 to 14 others were rescued and are in stable condition.'

Meanwhile, students staged a protest against the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) at the scene. Harshavardhan urged students to refrain from protesting as it would impede rescue operations. Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva called for an inquiry into alleged corruption within the MCD and the AAP government, questioning the maintenance practices that led to the incident.
