In response to Rahul Gandhi's allegations, the Ministry of Defence stated on Monday that the families of Agniveers who die during active military service will receive more than Rs 1 crore. This includes insurance, ex-gratia payments, the Seva Nidhi package, and remuneration for the remaining service period.

Rahul Gandhi criticized the government's compensation policy for Agniveers in the Lok Sabha, challenging Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's previous remarks. Gandhi asserted that the families received insurance, not compensation, and criticized the absence of Agniveer pension provisions in the Union Budget 2024.

Gandhi also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, drawing parallels with the Mahabharata. He claimed that the nation is trapped in a 'Chakravyuh' and accused the government of creating an atmosphere of fear across various sectors, including farmers, workers, and the youth.
