Government Bolsters Efforts to Promote Hindi as Official Language

Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai has disclosed that the central government is implementing a range of measures to promote Hindi, the official language of the Union Government. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Rai stated that various Ministries, Departments, and educational institutions are being targeted for this initiative.
Rai revealed that the government has conducted specialized training for Hindi language and translation, as well as computer usage, for personnel across different Ministries and Departments. Additionally, technical tools have been developed and put into action to facilitate this promotion. Various committees and regional offices have also been established to monitor the progressive use of Hindi.
The Ministry of Education is equally committed to ensuring that all provisions of the Official Languages Act, 1963, and Official Languages Rules are adhered to in its institutions and affiliated entities. Rai emphasized the existence of incentive schemes like Rajbhasha Kirti, Rajbhasha Gaurav, and Regional Official Language Awards to accelerate the implementation of Hindi as the official language.
Rai mentioned that the government remains steadfast in upholding the constitutional provisions regarding the official language. He noted that the Official Languages Act outlines the languages for official purposes, transaction of business in Parliament, and certain judicial processes in High Courts.
