Rescue operations are ongoing, with teams working tirelessly to locate missing persons and provide aid. The first landslide struck at 2 AM, followed by another at 4:10 AM, causing extensive damage. Several areas, including Meppadi, Mundakkai, and Chooralmala, are now isolated, with roads washed away and the Vellarmala GVH School buried under debris.

Top political figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, have expressed their condolences and pledged support. A high-level meeting led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been convened to coordinate the rescue efforts and address the unfolding crisis. He remarked on the heart-wrenching impact of the landslides and emphasized ongoing rescue and relief operations, with 3,069 people housed in 45 relief camps thus far.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that the state has arranged the best possible treatment for the injured. Rescue operations are in full swing, with the Fire Force, Indian Army, and Navy deployed in the region. Additionally, teams from the NDRF and specialized swimmers are engaged in rescue efforts, with helicopters on standby. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for eight districts in Kerala due to heavy rainfall.
