Two tiger cubs, injured after being hit by a train at Midghat track, have died while undergoing treatment at Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal, as confirmed by an official release. The cubs were rescued from Midghat track, Budhni in Sehore district and were transferred to the park, where one succumbed on Tuesday and the other on Wednesday.

"Two tiger cubs, seriously injured in a train accident, were rescued from Midghat Railway Line Budhni on July 16 and brought to Van Vihar National Park. Both underwent detailed health check-ups and X-rays conducted by wildlife doctors and other medical personnel on July 17. Continuous treatment was administered under expert consultation," the release stated. "One tiger cub died on Tuesday morning, July 30, and the second cub, also critically injured, died today on July 31," it added.

The statement further indicated that the cubs, gravely injured, were kept under continuous observation and treatment. However, due to severe injuries and fractures in their hind parts, which led to immobility and poor intake of food and water, the lack of desired improvement in their condition was evident. Despite the better treatment efforts, both tiger cubs could not be saved.

Following their postmortem examinations, the tiger cubs were cremated according to protocols at Van Vihar National Park, in the presence of senior officials, the statement concluded.
