Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took part in a tree plantation event under the "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam" initiative as part of the broader Amrit Brikshya Andolan at the Ministers Colony park in Dispur Capital Complex, Guwahati, on Thursday.

In his address, Sarma stated that the Assam government plans to plant three crore saplings from August 1 to August 20 under the Amrit Brikshya Andolan. "We will be planting 3 crore plants to play a crucial role in environmental conservation," Sarma said.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Sarma highlighted preparations for a large-scale Jhumur dance performance by 8,000 tea tribe artists from 800 tea gardens on November 20 in Guwahati. He recalled last year's Bihu dance by 12,000 artists at Sarusajai Stadium and announced similar plans for this year's event.

Sarma also announced that a special song for the Jhumur performance has been prepared and recorded and will be released soon. Additionally, the state aims to plant 3 crore saplings during the Amrit Brikshya Andolan from August 1 to August 20.

The Chief Minister also discussed the expansion of the Orundoi 3.0 scheme, confirming that an additional 20 lakh beneficiaries will be added, increasing the total beneficiaries to 47 lakh. (ANI)
