India's Record-Setting Agricultural Growth: Shaping Global Economic Futures
India has achieved a record 5% growth in its agriculture sector from 2016-17 to 2022-23, says Niti Aayog member Ramesh Chand. At the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation’s contributions to global agricultural development and sustainability were highlighted.
India has achieved a historic 5% growth rate in its agriculture sector over seven years, from 2016-17 to 2022-23, according to Niti Aayog member Ramesh Chand. Speaking at the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE), Chand also noted that India leads globally in GDP agriculture growth.
The conference, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is noteworthy as it returns to India after 65 years. It brings together around 1,000 delegates from 75 countries to discuss 'Transformation Towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems,' aiming to address global challenges like climate change and rising production costs.
Chand emphasized the increasing importance of agriculture in economic and human development, particularly areas where industry has failed to absorb the labor force. The conference spotlights India's proactive stance in global agricultural research and policy advancements.
