The launch of these centers falls under the Golden Jubilee Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme, initiated in 2022-23. The first phase included the opening of City Civic Centers in 22 municipalities, and the second phase will see 66 more centers by 2023-24. Operated by the Gujarat Urban Development Corporation, the project has an estimated budget of Rs 93.76 crore.
Chief Minister Patel kicked off the construction of City Civic Centers in 31 municipalities from Balasinor, with a budget allocation of Rs 44.05 crore. In a parallel development, Patel approved Rs 144.32 crores for over 7,000 rainwater harvesting projects in three zones of Ahmedabad under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana. Using a Public-Private Partnership model, the projects aim to enhance groundwater levels by constructing percolating wells in residential and commercial buildings. The funding ratio for these projects will be 70:20:10.
On social media, Patel highlighted the government's planned approach to improving rainwater collection and groundwater levels. The projects span the North West, South West, and West Zones, receiving applications from 7,497 societies.
Patel stated, 'The government is moving forward in a planned way to collect rainwater and raise the groundwater level,' emphasizing the importance of efficient rainwater management in urban areas.
