Tragedy Strikes: Rainfall Triggers Devastating Floods and Landslides Across India

Heavy rains have caused multiple cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Kerala. Over 300 people have died, with several more missing. Rescue operations by the Army, NDRF, and local forces continue. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi thanked all involved in the relief efforts.

Heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc across several Indian states, resulting in catastrophic cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Kerala are among the hardest-hit areas. Over 300 lives have been lost in Kerala, 15 in Uttarakhand, and 47 people remain missing in Himachal Pradesh. The devastation has disrupted daily life and left numerous communities in turmoil.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed gratitude towards Army personnel, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), district administration, and volunteers for their relentless efforts in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation. In Wayanad, the Kalpetta Range Forest Officers undertook a perilous 8-hour operation to rescue a distressed family, earning special recognition from Gandhi.

In Uttarakhand, the Kedarnath Yatra route experienced significant damage following cloudbursts and landslides. Joint rescue operations by the Indian Air Force, NDRF, and SDRF have saved over 1,500 pilgrims and locals. Simultaneously, relief efforts in Himachal Pradesh include extensive humanitarian aid and restoration of services like electricity and water supply. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu advises tourists to avoid risky areas to ensure safety.
