Amarnath Yatra Halted by Weather; Pilgrims Await Cleared Skies

Amarnath Yatra pilgrims at the Jammu base camp faced delays due to adverse weather conditions. Despite the disruption, arrangements for their stay were adequate, and pilgrims hopeful for improved weather conditions to continue their journey. The Yatra began on June 29 and concludes on August 19.

On Monday, pilgrims set to participate in the Amarnath Yatra faced delays at the Jammu base camp due to unfavorable weather conditions. A pilgrim from Delhi stated that they could continue their pilgrimage the next day. He commended the arrangements made for those unable to proceed today.

"I have arrived from Delhi for the Amarnath Yatra. Due to the weather, all pilgrims were halted today but informed that we could depart tomorrow. The accommodations provided are satisfactory, and I am hopeful to leave tomorrow," said a pilgrim. Amit Kumar Jaiswal, another pilgrim, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the well-managed arrangements.

Mohan Lal Kumawat, another participant, expressed, "We were expected at 2 AM today, but due to weather, we will depart tomorrow. We keenly await our journey." On Sunday morning, another group had successfully left the Srinagar base camp for Pahalgam.

Despite the interruptions caused by bad weather, pilgrims expressed overall satisfaction with the provided arrangements and remained hopeful for better weather. The Yatra, managed by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, features two routes: one via Pahalgam, the other through Baltal in Ganderbal district. Baltal also serves as a camping ground.

The Yatra, which commenced on June 29 from the Baltal and Pahalgam base camps, is scheduled to conclude on August 19. (ANI)
