On the third Monday of the sacred month of Shravan, devotees flocked to the Saryu River and Nageshwar Nath Temple in Ayodhya. Early morning, devotees arrived at the riverbanks to bathe in the holy waters and start their day in complete devotion to Lord Shiva.
After bathing, devotees proceeded to the Nageshwar Nath Temple, located on the riverbanks, to offer their prayers to Lord Shiva. Omprakash Panda, president of the Panda Society, mentioned to ANI that bathing in holy rivers and performing charitable acts hold unique significance on Shravan Mondays.
He further added that due to these deep-rooted beliefs, millions gather in Ayodhya, take a dip in the Saryu River, and worship in the temples. Shravan is considered a sacred month in the Hindu religion, often falling between July and August, during which many Hindus visit temples to worship Lord Shiva. This period, known for its fasting and pilgrimage, commemorates Lord Shiva consuming the poison from the churning of the ocean, according to Hindu mythology.
