First Batch of Pilgrims Embarks on Secure Budha Amarnath Yatra

The initial group of nearly 700 pilgrims departed for the Budha Amarnath Yatra, with comprehensive security measures in place. Key officials from Jammu and Kashmir flagged off the journey, underscoring the seamless arrangements made by the Indian army and local authorities.

The first group of nearly 700 pilgrims embarked on the Budha Amarnath Yatra on Tuesday, as security measures reached an all-time high. The journey was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and ADGP Jammu Anand Jain from Yatra Niwas in Jammu.

Balwan Singh Thakur, a pilgrim from Madhya Pradesh, expressed his satisfaction, stating, "We are happy and there is no tension among us. The Indian people and army are with us, providing all kinds of help." Another pilgrim Deepak Kalmoriya praised the security efforts, saying, "The Indian army's security arrangement is top class. It feels like home here." A woman from Ahmedabad, participating for the first time, added, "We are going for the first time. 150 people have come with us from Ahmedabad, and there are no issues with security."

Officials confirmed that nearly 700 pilgrims, hailing mainly from Karnataka, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, are participating in this sacred journey. The Yatra, commencing today, will conclude on August 20. The Budha Amarnath temple is located in Poonch district, a region that has recently witnessed increased terrorist activities, prompting heightened security arrangements.

Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar said, "The Buddha Amarnath Yatra starts from Jammu every year. All arrangements have been made for the pilgrims. Jammu & Kashmir police and the Indian army are overseeing all aspects of the journey." ADGP Anand Jain assured, "Tight security arrangements have been made, and there are provisions for food and stay throughout the Yatra."
