Shortly after India faced a huge setback with Vinesh Phogat's disqualification from the 50 kg women's wrestling final at the Paris Olympics, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin consoled the wrestler. Stalin highlighted that despite missing a medal, Vinesh has won hearts with her remarkable determination.

Adding to the blow, Vinesh was disqualified for breaching the 50 kg weight limit, crushing hopes for a medal in the wrestling category. She was set to compete against the USA's Sarah Ann Hildebrandt in the Gold Medal match. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reached out, describing Vinesh as India's pride and a beacon of resilience.

Modi urged the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha to explore options and possibly file a protest regarding Vinesh’s disqualification. The Indian Olympic contingent issued a statement announcing her disqualification due to a minor weight overage and requested privacy for Vinesh while they focus on other ongoing competitions.
