The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the National Capital Region (NCR) has issued an advisory urging all Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and residential societies in Delhi to provide electric heaters to security and service staff. The move is aimed at curbing open burning practices that adversely impact air quality.

According to an official release from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the advisory seeks to significantly control open biomass and municipal solid waste burning. Such practices contribute to harmful emissions, particularly during the winter season when the levels of PM2.5 and PM10 pollutants are aggravating.

The CAQM has repeatedly issued orders and directions to mitigate the negative effects of uncontrolled waste burning. The latest advisory emphasizes the provision of sustainable alternatives like electric heaters. The directive also calls for active involvement from RWAs and residents to improve Delhi's air quality. The Directorate of Urban Local Bodies and municipal bodies will further disseminate and monitor the implementation of this advisory.
