Harish Salve To Represent Vinesh Phogat at Paris Olympics Disqualification Hearing

Renowned lawyer Harish Salve will represent the Indian Olympic Association and Vinesh Phogat in court following her disqualification from the Paris Olympics. The scheduled ad hoc hearing will address the legalities as Phogat considers her retirement from wrestling.

Harish Salve, a distinguished Indian lawyer, has been appointed by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to represent wrestler Vinesh Phogat in her disqualification case from the Paris Olympics. Salve, who has previously served as the Solicitor General of India and is also a King's Counsel, confirmed his engagement with ANI, emphasizing the importance of addressing the legal intricacies at this crucial juncture.

The ad hoc hearing is slated to commence on Friday, August 9 at 9:00 AM Paris time (12:30 PM IST) at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The CAS has set up a special ad hoc division in the Paris judicial court, led by President Michael Lenard, to manage disputes during the Olympics.

After her disqualification, Phogat took to social media to announce her retirement. In a heartfelt post, she conveyed her emotional state, expressing feelings of defeat and gratitude. Wrestling Federation of India President Sanjay Singh has called on Phogat to reconsider, highlighting her achievements and advising a thorough discussion with her family and officials before making a final decision.
