In a heated session on Friday, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan demanded an apology from Vice President and Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. The demand came after a contentious exchange over BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari's remarks against Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge.

Bachchan criticized the tone used by Dhankhar towards senior parliamentarians and objected to his decision to switch off Kharge's microphone during his speech. "We are not schoolchildren; some of us are senior citizens. I was upset with the tone and especially when the Leader of Opposition stood up to speak, he switched off the mike," she said.

Bachchan's remarks were echoed by other women MPs, including Sonia Gandhi, who expressed solidarity with her stance. Opposition members staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha following the incident. Dhankhar, meanwhile, took a strong exception to Bachchan's comments, asserting that he does not need "schooling." Leader of House JP Nadda condemned the Opposition’s conduct, labeling it "improper and condemnable."
