BJP MLA Receives Extortion Call Posing As Senior Party Official

BJP MLA Arvind Pateria from Rajnagar has filed a police complaint against an unknown caller who impersonated a senior BJP official and demanded Rs 1 lakh, promising a higher party position. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Rajnagar, Arvind Pateria, has filed a complaint against an unidentified caller who pretended to be a senior official from the BJP Delhi office. The caller demanded Rs 1 lakh in exchange for promising Pateria a higher position in the state party organization, an official confirmed.

According to City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Aman Mishra, MLA Pateria received the extortion call a few days ago. The anonymous caller, claiming to be a top office bearer, sought Rs 1 lakh for a promotion within the Madhya Pradesh party organization. The incident prompted Pateria to lodge a complaint at the Rajnagar police station on Friday. Subsequently, a case was registered, and an investigation has commenced, the officer said.

CSP Mishra also mentioned that the police are examining all angles to identify the unknown caller. Authorities are investigating whether artificial intelligence was used in the operation. (ANI)
