Elephant Rampage Claims Four Lives in Chhattisgarh

In Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh, an elephant trampled four people to death. The tragic event occurred at Gamhriya ward-9, as the animal attacked a house, killing a man, his daughter, another family member, and a neighbor. Similar incidents happened in Telangana and Kerala earlier this year.

Four individuals lost their lives after being trampled by an elephant in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district, officials confirmed on Saturday. According to Jashpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Jitendra Upadhyay, the devastating incident took place at Gamhriya ward-9 in Bagicha Nagar panchayat on Friday.

The elephant targeted a residence, resulting in the deaths of a man, his daughter, and another male family member. A neighbor who approached to assist upon hearing the disturbance also fell victim to the elephant's aggression.

DFO Upadhyay stated that the Forest Department arrived promptly after receiving the alert. The solitary elephant, active at midnight, wreaked havoc in the vicinity. Further information about the mishap is still pending.

In a related incident, two people were fatally attacked by a wild elephant in Telangana's Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district earlier in April. The elephant invaded farmland in Chintala Manepally, Kouthala Mandal, killing one person on April 3 and another in Penchikalpet Mandal on April 4. Additionally, on April 1, a man named Kodilil Biju was killed by an elephant in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district.
