In a controversial turn of events, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has vehemently denied allegations made by former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, labeling them as 'wild and baseless.' Singh emphasized that his accusations against Deshmukh were neither politically motivated nor made at anyone's behest.
Speaking to ANI, Singh disclosed that his initial complaint dates back to April 2021, addressed to then-Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other prominent leaders, including Sharad Pawar. He accused Deshmukh of running an extortion racket, allegedly setting a Rs 100 crore target for officers in Mumbai.
Responding to recent allegations from Deshmukh, Singh reiterated his readiness for a joint narco test, asserting that Deshmukh's son, Salil, had offered him the DGP post in exchange for withdrawing his complaint. Salil Deshmukh has denied these claims. The political landscape in Maharashtra heats up as assembly polls loom.
