An elderly woman named Kasturi died after a fire erupted in her tea shop located in Sohna grain market early Saturday, police reported.
Emergency services, including police and fire brigade teams, rushed to the scene following the alert. Despite intense efforts, the fire brigade could only bring the blaze under control with much difficulty. The woman's body, discovered inside the establishment, was sent for a postmortem examination, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred around 2 am, causing a significant explosion due to a cylinder blast. Hearing the loud noise, nearby residents rushed to the scene and alerted the police. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials added.
