The Tripura Government hosted a grand civic reception for Jishnu Dev Varma at Agartala on Saturday, celebrating his recent appointment as the Governor of Telangana. Chief Minister Manik Saha shared the event on his social media handle, X, describing it as a historic moment for Tripura.

'Today, a Civic Reception was held in honor of Jishnu Dev Varma, the former Deputy CM of Tripura, who recently assumed office as the Governor of Telangana on July 31, 2024,' posted Saha.

'This is a historic moment for Tripura, as 'Jishnu Karta' is the first person from the state to hold this prestigious position post-independence. On behalf of the people of Tripura, I conveyed my best regards to him,' Saha noted. Varma, a senior BJP leader, was appointed as Governor by President Droupadi Murmu on July 28.
