In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Pune Police have unveiled a major drug racket in the Vishrantwadi area, recovering a large quantity of MD (mephedrone) valued at over Rs 1 crore. The operation culminated in the arrest of three young men: Srinivas Godje, Rohit Bende, and Nimish Abhnave.
According to an official press release, the Crime Branch's anti-narcotics unit conducted a raid following a tip-off from reliable sources. The raid, executed at the Vighnaharta apartment complex in Lohegaon, led to the seizure of 471 grams of mephedrone. A case has been registered at the Vishrantwadi Police Station under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Initial investigations hint at a potential connection to international drug trafficking, suggesting a broader network is involved.
The apprehension of these three suspects marks a significant victory against the drug racket. Further investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the operation, the press release stated. (ANI)
