ECI Delegation Reviews Poll Preparedness for Haryana Assembly Elections

A delegation from the Election Commission of India, led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, visited Chandigarh to review the poll preparedness for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. The elections are set to take place before October 2024, with multiple political parties gearing up for the contest.

Chandigarh—Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. SS Sandhu, arrived in Chandigarh on Monday to review the poll preparedness for the forthcoming assembly elections in Haryana.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) made the announcement via their social media handle, X, affirming that the delegation is set to examine the electoral readiness for the elections as the current 90-member Haryana legislative assembly's term concludes on November 3, 2024.

Haryana is among eight states scheduled to hold legislative assembly elections this year. Notable political movements include an alliance between the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and an announcement from the Aam Aadmi Party to independently contest all 90 Assembly seats. The 2019 elections saw BJP securing 40 seats, Congress winning 31, JJP with 10, and INLD with 1.

The Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 are anticipated to occur before October 2024, pending an official announcement of the election schedule.
