Authorities have ramped up security measures, including extensive vehicle inspections along the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, in preparation for India's upcoming 78th Independence Day. Security personnel were visibly present to ensure a secure and seamless celebration.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Udhampur, Prehlad Kumar, has called on the public to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement. 'The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and other security agencies have intensified security checks in addition to the routine checks conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir police,' DSP Kumar stated to ANI.
DSP Kumar added, 'We are scrutinizing various vehicles traveling on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and urge everyone to contact the police if they observe anything suspicious.' Simultaneously, the Head Post Office in Udhampur initiated a 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, engaging both staff and customers.
Assistant Superintendent of Post, Udhampur Postal Division, Mahesh Singh Jasrotia, informed ANI, 'Our postal department is an active participant in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. National flags are available across all our post office branches. Anyone interested in displaying a 'Tiranga' can obtain one from our counters. I encourage everyone to join this movement.' The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, was launched in 2021 to mark the 75th year of India's independence and promote national pride and awareness about the Indian National Flag.
On August 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to support the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign by flying the national flag at their residences. PM Modi, altering his social media profile picture to feature the Tricolour, has also encouraged everyone to do the same.
