As the nation gears up for Independence Day celebrations on Thursday, the streets of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir are aglow with tricolour lighting. India is set to commemorate its 78th Independence Day this year.

The bridge over the Chenab River in Doda, J-K, is also illuminated with tricolour lighting ahead of the national festival on August 15. Additionally, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organized a 'Har Ghar Tiranga' walkathon in Srinagar on Wednesday.

Participants were seen waving flags during the walkathon. Meanwhile, both the streets of Srinagar and the Chenab River bridge in Doda are decorated with tricolour lighting in anticipation of Independence Day.

On Tuesday, a Tiranga Rally featured a 750-meter-long tricolour on the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River in the Reasi district. Reasi Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan detailed, 'We intended to showcase our national pride and respect. This tricolour, made by locals in just 2 days, symbolizes our love for the nation. The railway bridge now displays a 750-meter tricolour to share our pride with the world.'

Authorities have ramped up security measures, including vehicle checks on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, ensuring a safe 78th Independence Day celebration. Security personnel were seen conducting checks for the smooth conduct of festivities.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Udhampur, Prahlad Kumar, urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the police. 'The CRPF, CISF, and other security forces are conducting thorough security checks alongside routine checks by Jammu and Kashmir police,' DSP Kumar informed ANI.

He added, 'We are inspecting various vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and advise everyone to report any suspicious observations to the police.' Meanwhile, Udhampur's Head Post Office launched a 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign on Tuesday, engaging both staff and customers.

Assistant Superintendent of Post, Udhampur Postal Division, Mahesh Singh Jasrotia, told ANI, 'The postal department is partaking in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative. The national flag, 'Tiranga', is available at all post offices, and we encourage everyone to participate in this campaign by displaying the flag at their homes.'
