Nineteen students from Bengaluru's Adarsh Nursing College were hospitalized after experiencing breathing issues caused by rat repellent sprayed to eliminate rodents on August 18, officials reported on Monday.

'A total of 19 students were sick due to breathing problems resulting from poisonous substances, and they were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals along with other hostel students and staff,' stated West Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Girish.

Three of the affected students, Jayan Varghese, Dileesh, and Jo Mon, are in critical condition and have been shifted to the ICU. Authorities plan to file a case under section 286 BNS against the hostel management for negligence.
