Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal celebrated Raksha Bandhan at his Bikaner residence in Rajasthan, where a group of women tied rakhis to him. Meghwal announced plans to visit a Border Security Force (BSF) outpost to mark the festival with stationed soldiers.
Speaking to ANI, Meghwal said, 'Raksha Bandhan is an auspicious occasion. We celebrated it at home, and now we are heading to the border at the BSF outpost.' He noted that since some BSF jawans couldn't go home for the festival, women from the Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahila Morcha would tie rakhis on their wrists.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the festival with schoolgirls in the national capital. Modi wished the nation well, expressing hopes for happiness and prosperity. President Droupadi Murmu also extended festival greetings, emphasizing mutual trust and respect.
In a message on X, President Murmu urged citizens to pledge for the safety and respect of women in society. Raksha Bandhan, rooted in Indian culture, celebrates the protective bond between siblings and is mentioned in Hindu religious texts.
