The Maharashtra government has established a Special Investigation Team to delve into the sexual assault case. On Tuesday, police employed lathi-charge tactics to disperse protestors blocking the Badlapur railway station. The blockade led to the diversion of 12 mail express trains and the partial cancellation of 30 local trains.
Railway services resumed late at night after police action dispersed the demonstrators.
