Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has once again showcased his talent by creating a sand sculpture with the message 'Kill the Evil' at Puri beach in Odisha on the occasion of Janmashtami. Simultaneously, a large crowd gathered at Manali's Mall Road to partake in the Krishna Janmashtami celebration organized by ISKCON.
Pattnaik, a recipient of the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, manages a sand art school at Puri Beach. With participation in more than 65 international sand art competitions and festivals, he has brought numerous accolades to the country. His sand art often carries powerful messages aimed at raising awareness on various social issues.
Throughout his illustrious career, Pattnaik has used his sand art to shed light on issues such as HIV, AIDS, global warming, stopping terrorism, beating plastic pollution, COVID-19, and environmental conservation. Meanwhile, Krishna Janmashtami preparations are in full swing across India, with festivities expected to be particularly grand in Mathura and Vrindavan, where Krishna is believed to have spent his youth and childhood.
This year, Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated nationwide on August 26, with devotees observing fasts and decorating temples and homes with flowers, diyas, and lights.
