B Srinivasan Appointed New Director General of NSG

Senior IPS officer B Srinivasan has been appointed as the new Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG). The appointment, effective immediately, will last until August 31, 2027, or his superannuation date.

Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer B Srinivasan has been named as the new Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG), according to a government order released on Tuesday. Srinivasan, a 1992 batch IPS officer from the Bihar cadre, succeeds Nalin Prabhat.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Srinivasan’s appointment starting from his joining date, up until August 31, 2027, which coincides with his superannuation date, as stated by the Ministry of Personnel. 'The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for the appointment of B Srinivasan, IPS (BH:92), as Director General, National Security Guard (NSG) in Level-16 of the pay matrix from the date of joining the post and up to 31.08.2027, i.e., date of his superannuation or till further orders, whichever is earlier,' the ministry's order detailed.

Srinivasan’s new role follows the reassignment of his predecessor, Nalin Prabhat, who has now been designated as the Special Director General of Police in Jammu and Kashmir.
