Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah stressed the importance of providing consumers with reliable organic food through National Cooperative Organic Limited (NOCL) and the Organic Products Council, Uttarakhand, on Friday. The event marked the MoU signing in the national capital.
Addressing the ceremony, Shah said, 'Organic farming did not get promoted earlier because farmers did not receive high prices and there was no guarantee of the product being organic. National Cooperative Organic Limited will now address these issues.' NOCL and Amul will establish a network of international-standard laboratories to ensure the authenticity of organic products labeled under Bharat Brand and Amul Brand.
Shah also urged Uttarakhand farmers to adopt natural farming practices and maintain organic purity in their fields, hoping to see a complete ban on fertilizers in the state. He encouraged farmers to educate their neighbors about the benefits of natural farming methods.
