The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensively investigated the crime scene at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, following the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor on August 9. The investigative team also inspected various locations within the hospital, including the emergency building, boys' hostel, and the principal's office, according to an official statement.
West Bengal Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Chandrima Bhattacharya demanded a robust case from the CBI to ensure the perpetrator is punished adequately. On August 29, CBI officials had visited the police morgue at the same hospital for further investigation.
The CBI has completed a second round of polygraph tests on former principal Sandip Ghosh as part of their ongoing probe. The tests were conducted by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory. Polygraphs were also administered to the accused, Sanjay Roy.
Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has suspended Dr. Sandip Ghosh's membership amid the investigation. The IMA committee, led by President Dr. RV Asokan, considered the severe implications of the case and subsequent developments at the college.
The alleged sexual assault has ignited widespread outrage across the nation, leading to the case being transferred from the Kolkata police to the CBI by a Calcutta High Court order.
